What are Edge Docks?

Sometimes it can be difficult, or downright dangerous, to get something from the doors of your warehouse into a waiting truck. For instance, if the driver hasn’t been precise enough, there may be a gap between your building and the truck, creating a space where equipment can get stuck, a worker’s foot might go through, or any number of other mundane disasters.

What are Edge Docks?

In cases like these, edge docks can be a lifesaver. Edge docks are metal platforms that sit at the bottom of your loading bay. When not in use, they sit folded over the edge. However, when a truck comes to be loaded, they can be unfolded into a stable platform capable of carrying the weight of your cargo as it goes over. This creates a single, continuous flat surface for wheels and workers’ feet to travel over without incident. In addition, because these edge docks are attached via a hinge, they are able to bridge the gap between loading vehicles that are both higher than the opening to your garage and lower. This flexibility helps to streamline the process for everyone involved, making your garage both a safer and more efficient place than it was before.

Often, commercial facilities will have their edge docks integrated into the garage doors themselves, which makes for a more streamlined experience. Therefore, we, as a garage door company, are proud to offer edge docks as part of our installation options. We will work with you to determine what size and weight capacity of edge dock is right for you so that you will always have the best equipment for the job.
